Week of December 9, 2013

Math: We will continue through Unit 5. We will cover lessons 5.3-5.5 which go over comparing/ordering fractions and how to find equivalent fractions. There will be NO MATH on Wednesday, due to the Robert Crown presentation.

Writing:  We will continue to focus on character traits and begin to write a story in which we exaggerate a specific character trait of their choice.

Reading/Novels:  We will continue working on Activating/ Connecting our knowledge with our Reader Response notebooks. We will be reading more non-fiction articles and merge our prior knowledge with our new knowledge. We will use post-its to keep track of our thinking.

IMPORTANT:
There will be no monthly letter for the month of December.

Social Studies:  Students will present their battles project to the class. They will take notes/provide each group with feedback. We will then begin a Webquest, later in the week, going over ancient Egypt/Mesopotamia. This is to prepare for a field trip we will be taking in January to the Oriental Institute (University of Chicago).

Special Events:

  • Robert Crown Presentation 10:45-12:15 on Weds
