Math:  Students can anticipate a test on either Tuesday/Wednesday of next week. A study   guide and review session were held last week. Students should be using the online resources for additional practice as well. We will then begin Unit 4 which covers long division.

Writing: Students will be getting back their WEX narrative rubrics back this week. This concludes the Book 1 lessons of WEX. Therefore, through Thanksgiving Break, all 5th grade students will be participating in a poetry unit. We will focus on a variety of poems and creating our own. Students should feel free to bring in their favorite poetry books to share with the class as well.

Reading/Novels:  This week we will be doing mini-lessons on monitoring our comprehension using "fix up" strategies. I will model good reading behaviors, students will practice in pairs, and then will have the opportunity to practice the skill independently. For novels, we will continue to switch classrooms, depending on which novel your child is reading.
