Week of March 3, 2014

Math:  We will have math only on Monday/Tuesday of next week. We will be focusing on finding common denominators for addition of fractions.

Writing:   Students will continue to work on their final draft of their Response to Fiction essay. (2 paragraphs describing a main character's traits).

Reading/Novels:  We will be working on the Wax Museum projects during our reading time, when we are not testing for ISAT. The Wax Museum is where students get the opportunity to read the biography of an influential person in history (no celebrities/sports figures), research them, and then eventually portray that person for the school/parents at the end of March. (March 19th... mark your calendars). This will count as their monthly book report project. Students will also be expected to write a monthly letter about their historical figure.
MONTHLY LETTER: MARCH TEMPLATE

Social Studies:  We will continue to read Chapter 14 of History. We will be working on a project in which students have to think of an object/item that requires 3 parts to function, similar to the 3 branches of government. Ideas in the past have been very creative- 3 primary colors, 3 vs. 3 soccer game, etc. Please help your child brainstorm!

Special Events:
ISATs: Here is the updated schedule: Please make sure your child gets PLENTY of rest, has a water bottle if they want it, and a healthy snack in between tests. No treats will be provided by teachers.
